My device - Gateway DX4860 is (most probably) incompatible with the latest Win 10 update (1709). Nevertheless, MS is forcing updates over and over again. Until today, I were able after failed installation of the updates (86% done and halt) just to hard stop my PC, wait and start again. It reverted itself to the previous version of Win 10 (1703). Unfortunately, today after hard stop something got corrupted  - I got the dreadful error message 0xc1900107 and after another hard stop and start, I got just a black screen with movable mouse pointer - and that's it. Now what?? Why on earth, the MS after several unsuccessful upgrades is still forcing another one to my PC - turning it into a brick?

That would be good. Please update us with the result.

Meanwhile, you may check this Forum Article created by Andre Da Costa to determine if your device is compatible with Windows 10.

If you have a third party anti-virus, we recommend uninstalling it. After uninstalling your anti-virus, we suggest updating your Windows and see if you'll get the same error.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply and you are correct. I did run the Windows Update troubleshooter and when i completed the process it did not find any updates. Kept saying updates up to date.

So I called Microsoft support some person from India and his response was that he found that my Acer - Aspire M3410 was not compatible with windows 10.

When I bought my PC it came with Windows 7.  But before I installed windows 8 and windows 10 I ran the Windows checker to see if my computer was compatible and able to install both versions. The test results were that my PC was compatible. ??? So I am bit confused on this one. Why would it tell me it was compatible and find out later that it was not?

So I will be contacting the manufacturer to get more info.
