Wi-if adapter is missing from my network adapter list under device manager cannot connect to wi-fi.

windows 10 home plus, version 1703, os build 15063.786, 64 bit system, its a desktop tower.

my computer worked fine and then i was gone on vacation for about two weeks. When i resterted it, i was unable to connect to the internet. I ran troubleshooter and it said "There might be a problem with the driver for the Ethernet 2 adapter."

when i go into device manager to network adapters there is no wireless adapter listed. Just the Realtek PCIe GBE family controller and xbox wireless adapter for windows is listed.

if i go up to view in the task bar under the device manager and have "devices by type" and "show hidden devices" checked, it does show my "Microsoft Wi-Fi direct virtual adapter" and "Realtek 8812AE Wireless Lan" but they are hidden along with a long list of "WAN Miniports". If I double click them their status says this "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)" "to fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer".

cannot connect to internet to update drivers, so that wont help.

do you think I should pull the LAN card from its slot and re-install?

any suggestions would be appreciated

    I ran the WLANREPORT

It came back with: Failed Wlanreport error is 0x3A98.

I have tried disabling-enabling, and un-installing the Ethernet under network connections. But I cannot get to the Wireless adapter as they will not show at all. Again, they did show in the list as hidden icons and I tried uninstalling them when they were hidden and they did not come back in the hidden lit after the computer restart.

I also turned off firewall and anti virus when I did the above with no change.'

I also restored my system to a restore point that was before my vacation when evrything was running fine and the restore made no change either.

I really do not want to have to restore windows and lose the files on my computer, but cannot get this figured out.

I do have a ethernet 2 port that goes with my Oculus, my wife hit it while dusting and bent the LAN stick and the case cracked. It worked fine after that. But I cant seem to get my Wireless cards Ethernet icon to come up anymore in the network connections list. It was there before, but now it only shows the Xbox Wireless stick that the Oculus connects to. Not sure where the other tab went.

Hope that is not more confusing.

    Thanks
