Laptop Keyboard Only Typing the Letter "a"

Hi!

My keyboard recently began bugging, where whenever I press any key on the keyboard, instead of the desired key, it just types the letter "a". I've updated my windows, and deleted and reinstalled the driver. I've also attempted to reset the keyboard settings, which didn't do anything either. I did however discover that if I press and hold the key, it will do an "a", but then a second later output the desired key (only once however). Does anyone have any ideas of what to do here?

Thanks,

Brandon Aldrich

Hey Brandon. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You can run the keyboard Troubleshooter at Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

I'd also try rolling back and uninstalling again the Keyboard driver in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

Then you could try resetting Keyboard to default following this method: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/reset-keyboard-se...

If nothing else helps you can use a USB keyboard (which doesn't allow boot mode input) or replace the keyboard by asking google for replacements available for your full make and model number. I have replaced laptop keyboards before this way and they worked fine.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
