I have two wireless display adapters and both work for other computers and my android phone so I don't think it is the display adapters.
Microsoft wireless display adapter not working with windows 10 vs 1709 on surface pro 3
I have a surface pro 3 with windows 10 vs 1709. I also have two microsoft wireless display adapters connected to two different TVs. The miracast used to work perfectly. However within the last 2 months it has suddenly stopped connecting. When I select the "connect" button the wireless display adapter shows and when I click to connect it even says "connecting" and my tv shows that is connecting to my tablet then it just stopps and reverts back to the "ready to connect screen" and my computer says "couldn't connect". I have updated my windows and updated all of the drivers and it says they are up to date. I have also troubleshooted both wireless display adapters with no success. How do I get it to connect again like it used to?

2018-01-03T04:03:32+00:00 I deleted the device and when I add it back it is doing the same thing, it says "connecting" on my computer and it even says "connecting to jerad's tablet" on my TV screen but eventually the wireless display reverts back to the "ready to connect" and then the computer reads "couldn't connect". 2018-01-03T00:51:15+00:00 We appreciate the information that you have provided. Since you were able to connect your other devices using the adapter, there might be a problem with the connection between your Surface Pro 3 and the adapter. We suggest that you disconnect the adapter from your Surface and reconnect it. Here's how:
- Press the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
- Under Projectors, select the name of the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, and select Remove device.
- Select Add Bluetooth or other devices.
- Click Wireless display or dock to reconnect your Surface and the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
After reconnecting the wireless display adapter, attempt to cast your Surface to your TV. If reconnecting the wireless display adapter does not resolve the issue, Windows Firewall might be preventing it from connecting to your Surface. Kindly allow the adapter to communicate through the firewall. Here's how:
- Press the Start button, then type allow firewall, then select Allow an app through Windows Firewall from the search results.
- Under Name, find Wireless Display and make sure
Private and Public are selected, then select OK. Kindly see the attached screenshot as reference.
- Note: If you can't select anything in the Allowed apps and featuresbox, it means that you are not signed in as an administrator. Kindly select Change settings, enter your administrator password, and select Yes. Your administrator password should be the same as the password you used to set up your Surface. Then, make sure Private and Public are selected, then click OK.
If the above steps does not help resolve the problem, feel free to post back to us.

2018-01-14T05:57:10+00:00 We appreciate the update. It is possible that Bluetooth is interfering with the connection of your Surface Pro 3 and your wireless adapter. Kindly turn off the Bluetooth on your Surface by selecting the Action center
in the taskbar and turn off Bluetooth, then attempt to connect to the wireless adapter.
If that doesn't let you connect to the adapter, check if you are using a proxy server. The adapter will not work if you are using a proxy server. You may check if you are using a proxy server by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
If you still can't connect your Surface Pro 3 to your Microsoft Wireless Display adapter, feel free to post back to us.

2018-01-04T01:12:26+00:00 We understand that the previous steps did not help resolve the problem. If your Surface Pro 3 still can't connect to the adapter, it could be that the 2.4GHz band might be disabled. The Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter can communicate with Surface Pro 3 on either 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless frequency bands, but you must enable the 2.4GHz band to connect it to the adapter. Here's how to enable the frequency band on your Surface Pro 3:
- Press the Start button, then type device manager, and select Device Manager from the search results.
- Select the arrow to the left of Network adapters, then right-click the Marvell AVASTAR adapter.
- Select Properties > Advanced.
- Note: If you do not see the Advanced tab, you're not signed in as an administrator. Select Change Settings, enter your administrator password, and select Yes. Your administrator password should be the same as the password you used to set up your Surface. Then, select Advanced.
- Under Property, select Band.
- Under Value, select the arrow and select Auto > OK.
After setting the value to Auto, kindly check if you are now able to connect your Surface Pro 3 to the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
If the problem persists after changing the settings for the frequency band of your Surface Pro 3, feel free to post back to us.
