Lack of space to update windows because using a acer computerthat has only an 8gb hd

I have an Acer Aspire n15w5 computerhat came with only an 8gb hd because it is basically uses a cloud for storage, although I use a USB portable storage drive instead of the cloud service. My problem is that I got an error notice about the last Windows update not being able to install because it needs 8gb of space to install the update, which is kind of impossible, seeing as there is only 8gb on the computer to begin with. I've made it a point to try to install any app that I need for my classes to the portable drive, but I am still at capacity and there is no way for me to free anything up. Does anyone know of a solution or have any suggestions for me?

You can't move desktop programs like Office and not all bundled apps like Mail and Calendar can be moved. Only those downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

Open Start > Settings > System > Storage

Under More storage settings, click 'Change where new content is saved'

You should use an SD card not a USB drive when moving apps.

Thank you for your suggestions .I do have a 64 gb USB drive installed on it, but not everything will install to an external drive. But I did get the windows update turned off, but I also need to know how to move outlook mail and all of the office programs over to the external drive because I have less than 1 gb left on the internal hard drive. I've tried to move them, but haven't found a way to do that. Can you give me any advice for this?

Your options are significantly limited with what you can do with that amount of space.

You might have to consider blocking the upgrade and turn off upgrades.

    How to block the upgrade:

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/block-windows-...

    Turn off Windows Updates:

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: services.msc

    Hit Enter

    Scroll down to Windows Update

Select it then right click it

    Click Properties

Under the General tab, choose Startup type to DIsabled

    Click Stop

    Click Apply then OK

If you want to upgrade, the best thing you can do is consider upgrading the storage, but if your system has a soldered in storage, then you can't upgrade without possibly augmenting your storage using a larger SD card.

    See options you can consider:

    8gb is not possible.
