So ive been having this problem over the last few days where my computer isnt showing any available wifi networks in the list and where the wifi symbol usually is theres a computer with a little plug and a red cross. Im so confused as to why this has happened and ive searched every forum trying to work out whats wrong but nothings working. Ive entered coding stuff into the command admin thing, ive tried to update my drivers, ive enabled connection finding and like 20 other things but nothings working and idk what to do. It says i need an ethernet cable but ive never had to use one before so im really confused. Please help :(

Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot

    Scroll down

    Click Network adapters

    Click Run the Troubleshooter

When complete, restart to see if the problem is resolved.

If not, press Windows key + X

    Click Device Manager

    Expand Network adapters

    Right click your adapter

    Click Uninstall

Exit Device Manager, restart. Windows 10 should detect the network adapter then reinstall it. Check if you can connect and browse.

    also try:

Open Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Status

Scroll to the bottom then click Network reset.

Sounds like your wifi card might have gotten disabled.

    What type of hardware this?

Some laptops have a button on them that can turn the wifi off.

    Check that.

Also right click your start button and go to Device Manager.

Under your network adapters look for your wifi card.

Make sure that it is does not have a symbol with a black arrow pointing down.

If it does right click it and enable it.

Another thing to try is go to Settings - Network Settings - Network and Sharing Center

    Click Change Adapter Settings.

See if your wifi card is listed and that it is not disabled.

Im not sure what a wifi card is or what the symbol would look like, but in the network connections all that comes up is ‘Ethernet’ with a little red cross underneath.
