Upside down screen

Anonymous
2018-01-28T12:28:05+00:00

I dropped a book onto my keyboard and it activated a series of keys which flipped my monitor screen. No matter what I have tried, nothing works.

I tried RESTORE to an earlier date but that is blocked by Microsoft defender. Cannot find how to turn off defender so that I can RESTORE again.

HELP>

My temporary solution has been to turn the monitor upside down.

Hi Mervyn, in Windows 10, there are 3 options for rotating your screen:

Hit CTRL + ALT + Up Arrow and your Windows desktop should return to landscape mode

    or

    1. Right click on your desktop and select Display settings.
    2. Highlight the screen you want to change (if you have multiple monitors) and change Orientation between Landscape and Portrait.
    3. To flip the screen, select Landscape (flipped) or Portrait (flipped).

    Or

    1. Navigate to Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Display and Screen Resolution.
    2. Highlight the screen you want to change (if you have multiple monitors) and change Orientation between Landscape and Portrait.
    3. To flip the screen, select Landscape (flipped) or Portrait (flipped).

How to rotate a computer screen

    On Windows PC (Windows 10)

Press "Windows", type "Display Settings" and hit "Enter".

(If "Display Settings" is not displayed, click on "..." icon located at the top right corner to expand the list and select "Settings" to filter search results)

Under "Orientation", pick one from the drop down list to rotate the computer screen. Or Press and hold "ctrl" + "alt" buttons and at the same time press the up arrow (navigation keys).

    If this doesn’t work:

Try doing the system restore in safe mode - hold down shift key & choose restart from the start menu, continue holding shift key until the recovery screen appear.

Many thanks. Such a simple remedy by using three keys. ctrl, Alt, Up arrow.

As a pensioner newly into computers, I have a lot to learn. Most of all, DO NOT DROP THINGS ON THE KEYBOARD.
