Epson wf-4630 scanner does not communicate with windows 10. The all in one printer connects and works fine just not the scanner Error message is  "Cannot communicate with the scanner. Make sure the scanner is on, correctly set up and connected with no errors indicated". My pc tells me I have the latest printer driver installed and I have downloaded the latest driver from the Epson website and installed that. I have also tried the troubleshoot problems - hardware and sound/hardware and devices then applied the fix and restarted my pc, but all to no avail. I still get the "Cannot communicate" message.

    Ciao,

I'm Ugo, a volunteer willing to help other Microsoft customers.

Regarding your question, In the official Epson page for your printer there are several videos and manuals for scanner configuration.

In the same page, section Contact Us, you can find technical support contacts.

    https://epson.com/Support/Printers/All-In-Ones/...

As long as this looks more an Epson related issue, my advice for the quickest resolution is to act this way.

Please let me know if this helped somehow.

    Ciao
    Ugo

    Hello,

    Try reinstalling the Printer.

    Right-click Start and select Run.

In the Run dialog box, type in control printers and press OK.

Locate your printer in the Printers section, Right click it and select Remove device.

    Restart your PC.

If you have a setup media of the Printer driver(This is usually a CD or Setup program supplied with the Printer), run the utility and let the Printer Install.

If you do not have a setup media, try adding a printer manually using "add a printer" button in the menu bar. It should automatically detect and Install the Printer.

After the Printer Installs, try printing a test page to see if it works as desired.

    Retry the task again.

In addition, you can consult Epson Support too:

Under Manufacturer, scroll down then select the printer brand

Over the right hand side, scroll down through the list and look for your printer model.

If you don't see it, click Windows Update and wait while Windows Update checks for the printer.

This time, select printer brand and in the printer list, select a driver series that closely matches your printer model
