One thing I see often is that there's many types of power management - and if one of these settings is wrong it can be hard to know which one.
There's actually 5 difference places to check for power and monitor timeout settings, and usually just one of these needs to be edited:
- Right-click Desktop > Personalize > Themes > Screensaver link
Even if you don't use a screensaver, the minutes setting on this dialog is used to lock or blank your screen. So even if you have this set to "none", you still have to make sure the checkbox is off or else your screen will still blank.
⚠ This is by far the most popular issue I see. 2. Control Panel > Power Options > Change when to turn off the display 3. Control Panel > Power Options > Change when the computer sleeps 4. Settings App > Lock Screen Settings 5. Settings App > Accounts > Sign in optionsHere you'll want to make sure the "require sign in" drop down at the top is set properly.
It's probably number 1, because even if your screensaver is set to "none", the timer on that page still applies. So it will time out after that time and go to the lock screen, which then also goes to sleep or hibernate.
So again, screensaver is the most likely cause, especially since you already checked the actual power settings. And again, the screensaver option applies even if you never had or never used a screensaver.
