A question was asked in forum  Windows ink: Non-windows laptop and surface pen compatibility  This thread is locked from future replies I was exploring what Windows ink had to offer on my HP laptop today.  I was looking around to see what there were for "pen" options, and found a verity of different ones.  I was curious if the Surface pen would now have compatibility with other laptops (my HP for example) to use in Windows ink.  If not, what should I look for to use?   Was never answered??  WHAT LAPTOPS ARE COMPATIBLE?  States that this was answered by Q:  Anup Karkal replied.

I presently run on a Samsung and was sold an "ink" pen to only find out I was unable to use it?  Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

No, not all laptops have the Pen and touch support for inking.

You can find out if yours does by doing the following.

    Press Windows key + X

    Click System

    Scroll down to Device specifications

Look at the entry for Pen and touch.

Mine says 'Pen and touch support with 10 touch points.

If yours doesn't, you will need to purchase a specific device that support it like a Surface Pro.
