NETBIOS over TCP-IP Windows 10 - Can't Enable it now!

I need NETBIOS of TCP-IP in order to see my QNAP NAS. It had been enabled for a while until recently I needed to do a PC BIOS  update and updated drivers. It's a Intel Z270 MB and I am using either the Ethernet NIC or the Atheros Wireless NIC, both have the same problem. Now, no mater what I do I can't seem to re-enabled it. I can connect using IP address, but can't see it in File Explorer and name resolution from cmd prompt doesn't work any more. I have a flat home network and other PC's don't have this problem. The NAS is the Master Browser and always has been (years).

ipconfig /all - always shows it as disabled

Changing the setting in the WINS tab of IPv4 settings doesn't work

Using commandline tools to enable it didn't work

Editing the registry in NetbiosOptions for the active Interface doesn't work

Network RESET didn't work

Verified that all the required Services are running

I can't seem to find any post anywhere that fixes the problem. Quite a few have fixed the same issue for other people, but none of them have fixed it for me.

If someone have a step by step way to fix this part of networking back to the way it was when I recently updated to Creators Update, I would be very appreciative. I don't really want to do a rebuild just for this.

Thanks in advance folks.
