Primary display switching resolution when I close laptop lid

My laptop switches the primary display over to my extended screen when I close the lid to watch movies changing the resolution and making the picture more granulated. I have tried adjusting the resolution after the lid is closed but it still does not display the same as when the lid is open, as well as tried to adjust my power settings but nothing I have tried works. There was a solution I found for Win7 regarding the system devices, ACPI Lid and changing the model to a volume control or something but that option is not available on Win10 ( which I have) any help is appreciated.

    Hey Paolo Mag,

Thanks for you reply. I appreciate the help but the article you sent isn't really the problem I am facing. When I close my lid that the primary display (from the laptop), taskbar and assosciated resolution switch over to the second screen instead of just continuing to be an extension. Thus giving a blurry picture. As soon as I re-open my lid the screens go back to their respective positions and resolutions.

    Hello,

If the resolution changes on the projector or on your second screen when you close the lid of your laptop, that means that the Connecting and Configuring Displays (CCD) feature of Windows is automatically reverting the display mode to the last active selection. It seemed to have only started a few weeks ago. I dont remember having this problem when I first started using an extension.
