When running an on demand scan McShield.exe using as high as 90% of CPU time when the scan gets to Windows Program files; when it scans Rootkits it uses 05-06% of CPU time. I've ran Webroot, Windows Defender (full scan), McAfee AV (full scan), MS Safety Scanner (full scan) no issues found by any of the scans.

Well McAfee is as worthless as T___ on a bull. I have 3 ,if you want to count Windows Defender (realtime protection is off) AV programs running. The other two would be Webroot WR ( for its website protection), and McAfee of course. WR I have realtime turned off and firewall turned off. I ran another custom scan on the program files w/McAfee same result.

Suggest you seek advice about McAfee issues from https://www.community.mcafee.com/community/forums

How many AV programs do you have installed?  To avoid performance issues and software conflicts, I only use one AV program.

You might want to review Choosing an Anti-Virus Program
