Lumia 950xl and display dock

I have both Lumia 950 and 950xl both with latest update. When connected to display dock, L950 recognize the HDMI monitor has no speaker and output audio thru phone speaker. But if I switch to 950xl, it would think the same monitor has speaker and incorrectly output audio to the monitor. Pls suggest a fix.

thanks

joe

So I might look at the settings (menu) on the monitor to see if there is anything that might help.

I want you to know that I spent a couple of hours this morning seeing if there is anything I could do on mine to stop output (if I could maybe that would lead us to a solution on yours). There does not seem to be the option to change the audio output back to the device (other than to use a different cable to connect to the monitor and I do not have any here to test with). That said, I did connect to a Bluetooth speaker and that worked if that is an option for you.

I wish I had more to offer

    Jack

    Thank you for helping.

I just tried your idea of using Bluetooth speaker. Yes it works! It is a work around the problem, but it is a solution. Thanks

    Joe

    Great to hear it worked!

Thank you for the update. Have you tried to check if there is a pending software update on your phone? Go to Settings > Update and security > Phone update > Check for updates

Let us know if this works for you.

    Hello Gerald

    Thank You for relying.

Yes, the dock was also updated with latest ( version 4.0.0 ).

The setup is exactly the same except for the phone part. Same monitor and same dock and same cables.

    Any idea?

    Joe

    Hello Joe,

For us to be able isolate your concern, have you already tried to update the Display Dock? To update the Display Dock connect the Display Dock through the USB Type-C connector. On the phone, navigate to the Gadgets app and choose the HD-500 listed on the menu.

Once the app is open choose the ellipsis ('…') at the bottom of the display and click Check for updates

The phone will then take over and download the new firmware and install it to the HD-500 Display Dock. Users are instructed to unplug then the power cord to the Display Dock to refresh the software.

We will be waiting for an update.
