I have stopped receiving Windows7 updates.  When I try to check for updates, the message is that the update service not running.  Rebooting does not fix the problem.  Any suggestions?

    This should work.

Type in " services.msc " in search. when screen comes up, look for  windows update

click on STOP. you want it to turn off.minimize this screen.

go to  my computer and click on C drive, click on windows folder and look for " SoftwareDistribution " folder.

delete it or rename it somethinese ( example: Software DistributionOld"  once youhave done this, retuen to services screen which you minimized and start the Windows update again.  then try updating, it should work.
