The Windows freeze during games issue is now solved! I did not experience any freezing whatsoever today.

If it does happen again I'll return!

Thank you for the help and happy valentines day!

    Hi,

We appreciate the additional information that you provided. The error "backgroundTaskHost.exe stopped working" is usually occurring to Windows devices due to damaged or missing system files. To help us identify the cause of this issue, we would need you to answer the following questions:

    • Which build and version of Windows 10 is installed on your computer?
    • What changes have you made to your computer before this issue occurred?
    • Is the same issue occurring even when your device is on clean boot mode?

In the meantime, we suggest running the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool. This tool will automatically repair the components of your Windows operating system and records the corruptions to the log file.

To run the DISM tool, follow these steps:

    1. Using Search, type Command Prompt.
    2. Right-click on Command Prompt on the search results and then select Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password or click Yes.
    3. In the Command Prompt window, type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, and then hit Enter.
    4. Once the scan is finished, restart your computer.

Note: While running the DISM tool on your computer, if any bad sectors are found on the system, data loss might occur. We suggest that you backup your files before running DISM.

Once done, run the System File Checker tool. This is a utility that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system and restore corrupted files. The link contains further information about how to run the System File Checker tool.

We are looking forward to your response.

    Windows Version is:

    Edition: Windows 10 Pro

    Version:1709

    OS Build:16299.214

    1. I did not do any major changes to my computer before this problem started occuring, this was about a month and a half ago when it first started, I thought it would go away but nope.
    2. Yes it does.

I did try the DISM tool and if the same problem occurs I'll update the situation.

Edit: When I play Need For Speed Payback, So what I did was I disabled Cortana and CortanaUI so the backgroundTaskHost.exe problem is now solved but the games are still freezing and I can not find out why, in the Reliability Monitor it only says ''Windows Was not properly shut down''

Also all of the games I listed above are now freezing more than ever.
