In the Sound setting (Control Panel) I see Virtual Surround in Enhancements tab (provided by Realtek) and Windows Sonic in Spatial sound tab. Windows allow me to enable both of them. Just wonder what happen if I enable both of them? Shall I enable both or I have to choose one?

Sorry that you thought I was giving you poor advice however I have checked several times and as an independent I don't have any further access. And Microsoft just has not released much public information.

If you wanted developer type information you could check in Microsoft's MSDN Forums which are also free.

Hope this helps.

Microsoft has not released a lot of the technical info except to developers so you should also check with the MSDN forums.

Windows Sonic is a feature to help with headphones, especially low cost ones. Gamers like to use it. Spatial sound with Windows Sonic supports TVs, home theaters, and sound bars that support Dolby Atmos. Spatial sound can also be used with any pair of headphones the consumer may own, with audio rendered by the platform using Windows Sonic for Headphones or Dolby Atmos for Headphones.

You might also check with RealTek Support to see what information they will provide about their compatibility.

Right now I would say it is at the "Try it, you probably will like it stage" if your system supports it.

As you found out there just is not much information released.

I would like to have more technical details about Windows Sonic and Realtek Virtual Surround (WS and RVT for short). WS gives us 7.1 virtual but limits our sound quality to 16 bit 192000Hz. If I uncheck the 7.1 checkbox, what surround WS give me? Also RVT allow us to use 24 bit 192000hz, I just don't know how "good" it surround? Quadra, 5.1 or 7.1? Can't find anything on Google.

Hi HuânLê, I am Rob, an independent and a 10 time and dual award MVP specializing in Windows troubleshooting and Bluescreen analysis. Please remember as independents we are not responsible for the development of Windows or the computer hardware and drivers.

Try it. Too many enhancements can make sound lag or even distort. If you don't like the effect use one or the other or neither. Its all about personal choice on that system.

Please let us know the results and if you need further assistance.
