Windows 10 and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9.

I have Paint Shop Pro 9 and I had it loaded into my PC when I was using Windows 7. It worked great and I also added it to my Laptop that was also using Windows 7 and also working great.

THEN, I upgraded and downloaded from the internet the Windows 10 Upgrade. Again, both PC and Laptop with the Paint Shop Pro 9 still loaded, worked Great!

Then, we had a power surge and it damaged my PC. The cost to repair was more than to replace it. I got a new PC about 8 months ago. It came loaded with Windows 10. I tried to LOAD Paint Shop Pro 9 from the disc and the darn thing will NOT load. It gets to "Registering Modules" and part way through it stops. You can "die" waiting for it to load and as nothing happens, I have to abort!

WHY did it work Okay with Windows 7 and also when Windows 10 was downloaded BUT NOT from the Windows 10 disc that came with my new computer??? Are there some other drivers or whatnot that was with Windows 7 (that enabled Paint Shop Pro 9 to work) that is NOT included with just the Windows 10 disc loading at the time that I purchased the new computer?

Are there any other Downloads available that will make it compatible?

I like many others do NOT like the latest versions of Paint Shop Pro from Corel and I want to continue using my Paint Shop Pro 9 from Jasc.

Note: At the moment I am having to download my work onto a USB stick, open up my laptop use Paint Shop Pro 9 on my laptop, then Upload my work back into my PC! This is like going from London to Holland via New Zealand and is just a darn nusance!!!

Can you advise me as to what I can do?

Thanking you in advance.

Ron.

This is not my idea but it worked for me. I have a Laptop with Windows 10 64 bit installed from new. Initially Paint shop pro 9 worked fine but after a number of updates would not work. I tried repairing and always hung when registering. I read on a Forum not windows Problem but a graphics Card Driver ( mine Intel Graphic HD 520) this had been automatically updating with window updates.

Solution: Download old Driver from Intel Graphic site.  I used one dated 2015. then update graphic Driver but do it manually and used the old down loaded Driver.  For me hey presto it worked. All I Need to do is stop any automatic update of graphics Driver.

Thanks to whoever it was who posted the solution originally

I wish any of these would work for me!  I have tried about every suggestion I have found on the microsoft sites.  My PSP 9 was working just fine and so was my Photoshop CS2, after the update.........nothing!

Now its just a lot of money down the drain!!

It is how I make my extra income so I am very very upset and simply dont know what to do.

Please, Please if anyone can help me.............

    Sherry

    Hi DickieLees,

Thank you for your suggestion. As soon as I received it I thought "Yes" at long last an answer that also sounds "logical"! I thought, WHY could the "Experts" at "MICROSOFT" not have suggested this????

So I downloaded the package, all 178megabites worth. Saved it in my Downloads in a special folder marked INTEL DRIVER FOR PAINT SHOP PRO 9, so that I could always go back and "reload" it if an upgrade occured and that I may have lost the use of it.

I "clicked" on the "Setup.exe" file and tried to "run as administrator" and all it did was come up with a message "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"!!

The Software package that I downloaded was dated 22nd December, 2015. You did mention that it was a 2015 driver that you downloaded. (from the Intel website)

I tried to "Install" my Paintshop Pro and it uploaded the new files BUT again it just FREEZES whilst loading the "Registering Modules"!!!

So, I am buggered if I know what to do next.

Thank you again for your help.

    Kindest regards,

    Ron.

P.S. I was very happy with Windows 7, It did the job really well and that is ALL that you want from a computer AND my Paint Shop Pro 9 WORKED! Now we have Windows 10, It does not excite me al all and to ask for NEW images as a background every time that you open up does NOTHING for me!! I just want to use the computer and get on with life!!!

I deleted the version that I uploaded and downloaded the above PSP v9 which is a TRY and BUY! I have already tried it before!!

It did not work. So, I deleted what I had loaded, Downloaded the above Paint Shop Pro program as you suggested above and tried to install it.

It is doing EXACTLY the same thing as my original purchased PSP 9 and that is that it loads and when it gets to "REGISTERING MODULES" it just sits there doing nothing!! You feel yourself slowly "dying" waithing for something to happen!!!

My PSP that I have in my laptop that was UPGRADED from Windows 7 to Windows 10 STILL WORKS FINE!

The same as my computer did until a power surge "stuffed" it up and I got a new computer WITH A WINDOWS 10 PROGRAM. Since that WINDOWS PROGRAM was installed, my PSP will NOT LOAD!!!!

There must be SOME Programs or drivers whatever, that was in with Windows 7 and was STILL THERE when "UPGRADED" to Windows 10 that enabled my PSP 9 to still work? Now the new computer with a DISC supplied with just WINDOWS 10, and the damn thing just freezes when "loading" the "REGISTERED MODULES"!!!

Thank you for your suggestion but I think that MICROSOFT have a lot to answer to. My last Windows UPDATE that took place just recently did NOT allow me to get into my computer after the update. I lostr 5 days while so called experts sorted it out and "lost" over 300 of my "CONTACTS" in my Thunderbird program.

Just to add.... When loading the Paintshop Pro 9 program and as I said earlier that as it is loading the "Registering Modules" part, it freezes. You can't delete the program with out starting "Task Manager" to remove it!!
