In particular my PC got infected with Searchfusion a browser hijacker / redirect virus. Please tell me how to get rid of it and how to protect my PC in the future.

Also make sure to look for/delete any "suspicious" browser extensions/add ons.
If needed, completely reset and/or uninstall/re-install your browser including wiping out of all personal settings.
