360 Total Security

A SatNav helpdesk solved a problem I was having, by taking control of my system. The engineer told me my AV protection was poor and showed me how many remote websites had access to my computer. He claimed to be MS certified engineer, and convinced me to install Microsofts' solution, for which I must purchase a MS License. This I did..through him...a lifetime license, which was not cheap. He then installed 360 Total Security, and uninstalled my resident AVG Virus protection. I'm concerned that this is not MS software, and that I have been scammed. Can anyone shed light please. Thanks

Thanks, But I think I was suckered in by the engineers apparent honesty and helpfulness. I should have realised when he gave a name which in no way matched his obvious nationality...although I realise this can sometimes be the case. Anyway, I have stopped payment on my CC ands await any fallout. The software appears to be doing its job OK.

What does this mean?  I know what "satnav" is, but who did you call? What problem were you having?

Yes you for starters should not run 2 protection programs at once. Defender will protect your PC

Next, if you called Microsoft and let them control PC, well my opinion, bad mistake anyway. But if someone called you and you did this, Oh no, You have been scammed, your info is being stolen and your system may crash

While the action he/she took might have been valid but since the person called you, it probably is scammer. It recommended to remove all software which has been installed on that day and uninstall Anti-Virus in Windows 10, should enable Windows Defender.

Also , report this SCAMMER to Microsoft:
