I'm just asking this because I'm making a video and with the video I have tons of pictures and made a folder to store them in for the video. And was wondering how many files can I hold.

Hi Corny99, I am Rob, an independent and a 10 time and dual award MVP specializing in Windows troubleshooting and Bluescreen analysis. Please remember as independents we are not responsible for the development of Windows or the computer hardware and drivers.

You can put 4,294,967,295 files into a single folder if drive is formatted with NTFS (would be unusual if it were not) as long as you do not exceed 256 terabytes (single file size and space) or all of disk space that was available whichever is less.

For older FAT32 drives the limits are 65,534 files in a single folder and max file size of 4 Gigabytes and 2TB of total space or all of disk space that was available or whichever is less.

Please let us know the results and if you need further assistance.

Hi Corny. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

It's limited only by the space available on the partition. Right click the drive to look at the Properties to see available space.

There is some top limit but it's more files than you'd ever have: http://forums.codeguru.com/showthread.php?39083...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

In File Explorer right click C: - Properties - General tab - File system.

Or Start - type in --> System Information ....... find at top and click on it.

Expand (click +) Components - Storage - click Drives

    Look at C: File system

    Hope that helps.
