Conexant isst audio doesn't detect my headphones

Hello I have an HP Probook 440 G4 with the product number Y7Z87EA#ABB. My problem is that the conexant isst audio doesn't detect my headphones. I tried multiple pairs of headphones that work perfectly on other devices but no matter what pair of headphones I try on my computer it still doesn't detect them as "plugged in". The pair I have right now can connect to my computer by Bluetooth but I'd like to use them with the jack too. The jack is a standard 3,5mm one.

Also I have tried installing the newest update for the audio driver but it doesn't install. Windows always reverts it to the standard old one. The newest version I have found for my computer is this one:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-probook-440-g4-notebook-pc/10477248/swItemId/ob-199126-1

but my computer always reverts it to version 9.0.157.0.

What should I do?

Hello, yes I have already tried uninstalling the driver multiple times without any luck sadly. The only thing I managed to do by uninstalling the driver completely was to manually update it to the newest version but it still doesn't recognize my jack.

To answer your question, yes I have tried using an USB headset and that worked perfectly fine so I don't think that my sound port is the problem.

Also, I have tried desabling and re-enabling the sound card but it still didn't work. I also tried disabling and re-enabling the headphones in the playback devoces and that didndd work either.

However, today I did a manual mass update of drivers and then out of curiosity I plugged in my headphones (same pair I tried last time too, directly in the jack wothout any usb adaptors or anything) and for a split scond it recognised that they were plugged in and recognised them in the playback device before abruptly dissapearing and windows 10 not being able to recognise them again. This makes me believe that this IS indeed a driver problem and not hardware problem like I initially thought. The problem is now that I cannot pin-point which driver causes this and why.

P.S all my drivers are up to date from what device manager tells me.

    Hi Iulia,

Incompatible audio device drivers are known to operate against the method that Windows follows. Have you tried using the automated troubleshooter test the computer for problems?

The troubleshooter isn't designed to fix every problem but it is a useful tool to try first, as it can often save you time and effort. You may refer to the steps below:

    1. Press Windows key + R and type Control Panel.
    2. Type troubleshooting in the search bar and click on Troubleshooting.
    3. Click on Hardware and Sound.
    4. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

You may also try the following:

    1. Launch Settings.
    2. Select Update & Security.
    3. Click Troubleshoot.
    4. Under Find and fix other problems, select Hardware and Devices.
    5. Click the Run the troubleshooter button.

Let me know how it goes.

Yes I've tried using the troubleshooter too. The sound troubleshooter doesn't recognize my headphones as being plugged into the jack and prompts me to plug them in (they are plugged in), thus leaving me no choice but to cancel the scan every time.

On the other hand the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter comes up clean every time.

    Hi,

We want to make sure that you already tried deleting the installed driver before updating it. In Device Manager, right-click the driver and select Uninstall. Make sure to check the Delete the driver software for this device box. Restart your device and install the downloaded driver.

If the issue persists, contact your device manufacturer to report the driver failure.

Let us know how it goes.
