Wireless Adapter QUALCOMM ATHEROS Missing in device manager and no wifi available

Hi,

I'm using an ACER ASPIRE XC-605 desktop, and recently after the 4 Jan 2018 windows update, i've been experiencing problems with the wireless adapter.

In the morning, when the desktop is started - the internet connection is fine.

However in the night - at about 11pm, the internet connection always disappears even though all mobile devices and other laptops can be connected.

The wireless adapter under Qualcomm is not available in the device manager menu, not even if i scan for hardware changes,

uninstall, re-install the adapter plus necessary driver, reboot the computer, nor even if I do a network reset.

Are there any other solutions to this problem to make the wireless adapter appear?

Windows 10, 64bit system

Current driver is 10.0.0.318

Qualcomm atheros AR9485

pls help, thank you!

    Hello,

You can go to your device manufacturer's website, search for your system model and install Qualcomm Atheros wireless driver available.

For example, for ACER ASPIRE XC-605 desktop (as mentioned by OP), the Qualcomm Atheros wireless driver can be easily downloaded from product support page on Acer's website:

    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/content/support-product/4945;-

    Hope this helps!

Note: Acer.com is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

We have a customer with the same behavior on the Intel NUC7i3BNH happening intermittently.  They are able to reset and bring it back but it is disappearing again after the remedy therefore the workaround is not sticking. Microsoft team, please fix and advise!

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: appwiz.cpl

    Hit Enter

    Click View installed updates

See if KB4056892 is installed or not.

If it is, right click it then uninstall it.
