I want to install this on my new Dell with windows 10 but all the drivers for Microsoft webcams say they will not load on this computer.

Where is there a driver for this camera please?.

So you are now saying "Give up" ?

If this is the case why waste all the time with the above?

Why not make it clear at the start there is no usable driver?

    Not very satisfactory....

    Hi Andy,

Microsoft may not release a LifeCam 1.4 driver for Windows 10 but you can still use the driver for an older Windows version through the compatibility mode. Please refer to Deepak Kodi's solution on this thread.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

    thanks again for the reply.

The 'let aps use my camera' was already checked in the settings before I started.

When I plug in the camera it says it needs a driver. also in settings . When I try to load a driver it says 'the compatibility manager will not load this on my computer. The original driver disc will not load. I cannot get to first base. So I have never got a driver installed, never get to the compatibility box.

    Has anyone actually succeeded?

    thanks

    Andy

Found the device manager and tried scanning for hardware changes, as you suggest. Does not find a driver. I have removed the camera and reloaded it and now the computer thinks it is a VX1000 but still does not find a driver. Tried this twice. In the devices and printers page it says no driver.

    Further suggestions?

    Andy

    Thank you for posting back.

If the compatibility mode didn't work, try to uninstall the camera driver and make sure that apps are allowed to access your camera:

    1. Uninstall the camera driver from the Device manager.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. Open Settings and go to Privacy.
    4. Select Camera on the left pane.
    5. Turn on Let apps use my camera.
    6. Restart your computer.

Don't hesitate to post back if you need further help.
