Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4049411) and Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709 failed to install (Feb 2018)

Tried several attempts to install the latest updates to my HP 15 laptop. The install gets to 99% then message indicating it failed to install.

Updates that failed are Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4049411) and Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709

Is there a way to manually download and install the updates?

    Run the Windows update Troubleshooter and check if it helps:

    Type troubleshooting in Windows Start Search box

    Click Troubleshooting

    Under System and Security, click Fix problems with Windows Updates.

    The most reliable method to install 1709 is manual

    1. If you choose not to upgrade, you can block it

    Sumit Dhiman,

    The 1607 unasked for update has rendered my computer, and my business , inoperable since 12/14/17.  It updates constantly and fails to install.  I have tried many hours on the phone with your tech support.  Only to get told a level two tech will call me back...which never happens.

    The methods you mention above DO NOT work.  I have tried them several times.

    Microsoft provides many options to get the latest feature upgrade manually. You can use any of:

    Upgrade assistant

    Media Creation Tool

    ISO File

    to get Fall Creators update right now.

    You can use the following guide having detailed Instructions on how to upgrade to the latest Feature upgrade i.e. Fall Creators update using all the three methods:

    Media Creation tool has an Edge over the Upgrade assistant in my opinion as it offers a greater degree of flexibility of downloading and using the ISO file so that one can deploy it on multiple computers.

    What is the make and model of your computer?

    Have you checked the manufacturers website to determine compatibility?
