Co basicly, for undetermined number of applications, app crashes on startup with error code of 0x000000d. This happens only on first launch of application. Another attempt launches application just fine. Situation persists after reboot - almost every app I run crashes with 0x000000d and runs after rerun. Why is that happening and how can I fix it?

Since the error code 0xc0000000d is still popping up, please check this thread. A troubleshooting steps were given by Kevin D Souza. You need to rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) from Command prompt. You also need to have the Windows 8.1 installation media and boot the computer using the disc. If you don't have a recovery disc or the installation media for Windows 8.1, please download it from Create installation media for Windows.

Regards.

    Hello Sebastian,

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any recent changes made prior to this issue?
    • Are you using any third-party application?
    • Have you tried to run the **System File Checker**tool? It's a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.
    • Identify the apps that are affected of this issue.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.

    • No major changes that I would be aware of
    • Please define third-party application - most apps are non-ms product so I would say all of them are 3rd party.
    • I didnt try System File Checker, but I will
    • For example - Battle.net client, deluge desctop client, firefox, chrome, thunderbird and probably more - i just didnt count those.

Right now I got the mentioned error even on WerFault.exe application - and this is Windows error reporting utility am I right?

I think you have misunderstood what I wrote. Issue happening on various of applications, even on system apps - that is why I mentioned werfault to indicate that I have issue not only with 3rd party applications but with built-in system tools as well. In sake of clarity, I have disabled windows error reporting service - issue is stil there (but obviously not in regards if werfault anymore).

Thank you for letting me know. The werfault.exe is used for Windows Error Reporting. It is a feature that allows Microsoft to track and address errors relating to the operating system, Windows features, and applications.

Moreover let's try turning it off temporarily to see if this will resolve the problem. Follow these steps for instructions:

    1. Click Start and type Services in start search and press Enter.
    2. Locate Windows Error Reporting Service in the services list.
    3. Right-click on it and click Properties.
    4. Open Startup type list and select Disable.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Check and see if you are still getting the werfault.exe error.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.
