WdFilter.sys BSOD

I have a Windows 10 OS and I am getting a BSOD after 5 minutes of starting my laptop. This is really frustrating. The reason given was WdFilter.sys

Stop code: KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

I tried to run sfc /scannow but before it could complete, the computer runs into Blue screen again. I can't boot into safe mode because I can't select Safe mode in msconfig. I tried restarting with advanced options but there is only one option which says Turn off this PC. Please suggest a solution as soon as possible as I have to complete my project work.

Hi AbhinavCowkur, this issue may be caused by a bug in Windows Defender. Turn on your PC, use the Start Menu to search for Windows Defender, then disable real-time protection. For more information on how to temporarily disable Windows Defender, see this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402718...

Windows Defender will automatically turn itself back on after a short amount of time, and you will need to update it before that. Download and run the Windows Update troubleshooter from this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164

Afterwards, check for updates in Windows Update and allow everything to install.

    Hi Lars

After updating your PC successfully, you should turn Defender back on. Have you had any issues in the past few days? Let me know if you have any more questions.

For some days i had the same fault: Stopcode KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED
