Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2200 works correctly in Linux Mint; but not in Windows 10, 1709
I have a Toshiba P873-S7102 laptop with Windows 10, 1709 installed. I have tried different solutions for the Windows 10 , supported Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2200; with no success. Also, I have successfully used a USB Edimax dongle on this laptop and have good connectivity; can see all available networks. The Intel wireless nic will not turn on; sees no available networks. I see not option to turn-on the Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2200 in the BIOS setup.
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2200 and Linux Mint 18..x.x has good connectivity right from boot; sees all available networks.
Ran troubleshooter; it just says the wireless nic is turned off and not fixed. Reset network; no change in symptom.
Verified this is no hardware issue by using Linux Mint to browse the Web; with no problem and no configuration difficulty using same laptop and Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2200.

2018-03-28T23:41:01+00:00 I waited too long; I think after installing 1703 and disconnecting from the internet. Some updates came across and the wireless adapter turned off again. Will take a look at Update history; maybe there will be a clue on which to remove or maybe just uninstall updates, So frustrated...

2018-03-28T20:43:59+00:00 Go to Task Scheduler - TaskSchedulerLibrary - Microsoft - Windows - Update Orchestrator.
Then pick UpdateAssistant - right click - Properties - Triggers Tab - Edit each Trigger then click Enabled box to Disable - OK.
Repeat for UpdateAssistantCalendarRun.

Is there an option or work around to block updates or hardware drivers that might cause problems?
Yes, Microsoft has released a KB update (KB3073930) that will let users block or hide Windows or driver updates.
You can download it at the following link:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930
Option 4:
Press Windows key + R
Type: services.msc
Hit Enter
Scroll down to Windows Update
Select it then right click it
Click Properties
Under the General tab, choose Startup type to DIsabled
Click Stop
Click Apply then OK
Option 5:
Before carrying out this procedure, disconnect from the Internet. That means turning off Wi-Fi and disconnecting from a wired connection. If you don't, Windows 10 will indicate some files are in use and cannot be modified or the command will be non-responsive. Also, you should restart your computer after disconnecting from the Internet. The easiest way to do it is to enable Airplane mode from the Action Center - Windows key + A.
Stop the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and the Windows Update Services. To do this, type the following commands at a command prompt. Press the “ENTER” key after you type each command.
net stop wuauserv net stop cryptSvc net stop bits net stop msiserver -

2018-03-28T04:29:02+00:00 I am going to recommend you downgrade to Windows 10 1703.
Step 1: download Windows 10 1703 from the following link:
https://tb.rg-adguard.net/index.php?sid=74a7cf5...
Choose the following:
- Windows Final
- Windows 10, version 1703
- Windows 10 Pro + Home
- English
- x64 (64 bit) x32 (32 bit)
Step 2: create a bootable copy
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...
Step 3: perform a custom install
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki...
You should backup your files before downgrading.
Applications will need to be reinstalled.
The custom install will archive your files, so you can recover them from the Windows.old folder - make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.
There are some compatibility issues with Windows 10 version 1709 and certain hardware or software. There is no explanation why a lot of these problems are happening in Windows 10 1709, but the release is significantly flawed. Software and Hardware that once worked in previous versions, just suddenly stops working in Windows 10 1709 after an upgrade and sometimes loses functionality or stability.
