Hi - I imagine this can be done but it would not be the normal method for copying (or syncing) music to a mobile device... normally a device will show up when connected to a usb port but some intermediary software is often needed to enable communication with Windows.

Check with your device maker's website to see if this is the case.

If you still have an issue there is a better alternative route you could take which will give you access to all your music via your phone without the need to copy it directly. I'll wait for an update but please note that I am about to go away for a week (returning Sun 25th)...
