Uninstalling Trend Micro remnants from Windows 10

I cannot get updates to Windows 10 installed because of remnants of an old Trend Micro PC Cillin. I have tried all of the methods I found to uninstall it but all methods are for earlier versions of Windows. Regardless, none worked.

I down loaded the removal kit from Trend Micro and followed instructions as much as possible but had difficulty because they were for Windows 7 and not 10. Is there any place that I can find something for Windows 10 which may help.

Windows for home | Windows 10 | Windows update

If this is windows 10 fall creators update 1709, then the error would suggest an older version of Trend Micro internet security 200X in the previous windows - 7 or 8.

Try looking for Windows.old folder under C:\ drive and then program files folder and search for trend micro related folder.

    Give it a try

The Trend Micro company is really your best/only source for this.

But really, the instructions for Windows7 should match very closely for Vista/8/10 (they are all so closely related).

I will try to help  -- can you send me the link to the Windows 7 instructions you used, along with a note about which step gave you trouble?

Thank everyone for your help. The Trend fix sites was no help as they did not fix the problem but there was another link for the support people. After being again sent to the Tech, who had to take control of my computer, we finally got the issue fixed and I have been able to get my updates for Windows 10.

    Thanks everyone for your help

In addition to my previous post, here is a Q&A post that we created to address the issue of 'some apps need to be uninstalled" in general.

    Hello,

There are some steps discussed on the following Trend Micro thread that some users have had success with:

    https://en.community.trendmicro.com/tm_en/topics/windows-10-version-1709-not-installing

Also, Trend Micro has created this page to address issue:

    https://esupport.trendmicro.com/en-us/home/pages/technical-support/1119262.aspx?_ga=2.185812970.278333797.1519247885-36494128.1519247885

You may want to try the steps outlined in either if you are still experiencing issues.
