Paperport 14.5 Professional

I have a Brother DCP L2540DW printer/scanner.  It came with Paperport that worked with Windows 7 but not Windows 10 Pro.

I just purchased Paperport 14.5 which works with windows 10 pro.

My problem is when I am logged on as the administrator Paperport works fine.  However, when I log on as a standard user, Paperport does not "see" a scanner.

As the administrator I shared the printer and scanner installed.

As a standard user I can print but I cannot scan with Paperport.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

In order for the PC and scanner to communicate Windows needs to have the scanner's software starting with Windows. It will be in one of the places covered in Step 4 of this checklist for Windows 10: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki.... Make sure that the Standard Account has the same scanner software starting in all three places covered there that the Admin Account does.

If it does then the Standard account may need to have Admin permissions assigned to the Scanner software to run properly from it. This can be as easy as locating the executable file for the scanning software, right clicking to create a Shortcut, in the Shortcut Properties >Advanced set it to run as Administrator, then drag it into the Startup folder.
