Turn on laptop computer without opening the lid

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, running Windows 10.  I am using an external display and I would like to just close the lid on the laptop and set the external display on top of it because I don't need the mobility of it anymore. I am using an external keyboard and mouse as well.  I have the power settings set to "Do Nothing" when I close the lid of the computer when it's plugged in.  But how do I bring the computer up again without opening the lid?  I tried hitting Enter on the keyboard, and CTRL, ALT, DEL, but nothing happened.  Any ideas?

Hi BT. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You can't if the Power button is inside.

But it may be best to keep the laptop opened a few inches so you can reach inside to power button as I do on my desk here, so that it has some air flow through the keyboard. I've always worried about a laptop overheating if the lid is closed. I've watched how temps shoot up when the lid closes on previous laptops.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
