Upon checking on Dell website, they don't provide driver updates for Dell Vostro 1015 that will work in Windows 8.1.

If you choose to use Windows 8.1, some features, applications, and connected devices might not work as expected.

For me, it's not recommended to upgrade the pc to a version not supported by the manufacturer because when a hardware issue occurs (eg keyboard, internet, display not working) the solution is to reinstall the version of what the manufacturer is supporting, which is on your case, Windows 7.
