I received a pop up saying "Internet Security Alert! Code: 055BCCA 9FEC, Your Computer Might Be Infected By Harmful Viruses, Please Do Not Shut Down or Reset Your Computer."

I ran into a same situation this morning, my computer pop up a full screen alert state: Internet Security Alert! Code: 055BCCA 9FEC, Your Computer Might Be Infected By Harmful Viruses, Please Do Not Shut Down or Reset Your Computer.

and ask to call Windows Technical Support:(855)241-4756(Toll Free),

all the page looks like a real page from Microsoft.

When I called the number, the guy ask me to press window key and the letter R, to log in iexplore www. helpme. net

he said his name is Bob miller and told me my computer has been hacked and download viruses. He asked me pay $199 to remove the viruses and install a firewall. as I mention I need to report to our company first, he hand up the line.

He also typed on the screen another number 866-979-6447 let me call if I have any questions. the number I found out has been report as a scam number

    If you did not allow remote access, your computer is fine. If you did, you got scammed and if it were me, I would be reloading Windows. Did you allow them in? If you did not, this is how to approach the issue in the future.

    It's a common scam that has been around for a few years now. Click the X to close the window. You should then see a box at the bottom, Do not allow this site to create new messages. Check it and then close that window and finally the popup.

    For all other browsers, use the Task Manager to exit the browser. Reboot and see if the pop-up goes away.
