Hi I have tried looking for how to change where the update files are stored because my C: drive (where the updates are installed) has a total of 3.12 GB of 55 GB. All my games and documents are on my D: drive that has 495GB remaining and I would like to have the updates install there. If there is any way to do this please let me know.

Thank you

I wouldn't do the entire users folder, but you could redirect the things inside seamlessly.  If you go to your user account folder, you'll see all your redirectable folders. The easiest way to do this is just click your name in the address bar.

All of these folders, if you were to right-click and go to properties, will have a Location tab on them and you can move them to be on your external hard drive instead. Make sure you make actual folders for them there, you don't want them all to be trying to be stored at E:\ for example.

The only thing in there now that doesn't say windows or program files in the title is users, what would happen if I deleted the users folder? if I copy everything to my D: drive first?

You cannot store updates on a separate drive from where the operating system is stored.  You'll have to find an alternative or find something else to move instead.

I did that first but my C: drive is too small.

So can I not fix this?

Sorry this isn't possible, it needs to be the same place as the operating system.

But there might be a lot of extra files leftover from updates that you can clean up.  Try this:

    1. Use your Start search to find and open "Disk Cleanup" tool
    2. Click the Clean Up System Files button near the bottom of the tool
    3. Checkmark all the items in the list to find out how much space you can clean up from those system files
    4. Click OK to clean the system files
