I've had this exact same situation. I was looking into redownloading the program but luckily landed on your thread.
I checked my Windows Defender and found the EXACT same situation. I restored the quarantined files and Vaio Care was back to normal.

I'm a novice computer person and I need help. Thanks in advance for any advice on how to proceed.
BACKGROUND INFO
I have a Sony VAIO Model: SVF1521KCXB (touch screen) laptop with Windows 8.1 (came with Windows 8.0) and VAIO Care version: 1.4.14090. I use Windows Defender (WD), which was recommended by the Microsoft Windows tech when he had to completely uninstall my upgraded Windows 8.1 because Windows 10 mysteriously began to download on my VAIO. What do I need to do resolve the following issues?
ISSUES
Monday (02/05/18) my computer shut off while I was working on an EXCEL file. Every time I turned the computer back on it would turn off either immediately or after several minutes. Then the fan began making a crazy, loud noise. NOTE: A fan issue was known to occur with Sony VAIOs and a solution with a BIOS update supposedly resolved the issue. Up until yesterday, I had no problems with my fan. In addition to the computer automatically powering off and the fan noise, I have the following other error/alerts:
VCSystemTray
VCSystemTray is restarting... (this task did finish)
VAIOShell
VAIOShell has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. (bottom of box has "Close program" button you can click)

Thank you for your response. I've read all the information you provided. I have also outlined the actions that I've taken. Before I proceed, I would like to get clarification on my next step(s).
RE Status of Windows Defender quarantining "Misleading:Win32/Chekuem" and my VAIO Care not operating correctly. Microsoft changed the threat level that I posted in my original post to you from "HIGH" to "UNKNOWN", Category: from "Potentially Unwanted Software" to "NOT AVAILABLE", Description from "This program displays deceptive produce messages." to "NOT AVAILABLE", Recommended action: from "Remove the software immediately." to "NOT AVAILABLE." Items: "file:C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Care\Iolo\ioloToolsTypeLib.dll" remained unchanged. And the link for "Get more information about this item online." provides no information...stating "No results found for: misleading:win32/chekuem."
I NEVER Removed "misleadingwin32/chekuem" and the file is still quarantined in Windows Defender. Can I just click on the button and restore "misleadingwin32/chekuem" on my computer? Then restart my computer and expect my Vaio Care to run correctly (i.e., before Windows Defender -Microsoft messed up my Vaio Care by writing a code that would falsely flag/quarantine a file in my VAIO Care as "scareware" or whatever the word is.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
