okay so I was able to type a word doc and then export it with my free wps office app, then after a windows upgrade suddenly I cannot even save a new document in WPS office, I keep getting this notice even though I have put the app into windows defender fire wall so it is allowed to go through, what is up? the notice says unauthorized changes are blocked controlled folder access blocked wps.exe from making changes to the folder %userprofile%/doc

It is possible that Windows defender is blocking the application you are using that's why you are having issues saving a new document. That being said, I recommend turning off the Controlled folder accessin Windows Defender Security Center. To do it, kindly follow the steps provided in this article.
