Want to add "Open With" to right click

I first googled the problem and looked at the suggestions by "windows club" but their example did not match what I saw in my window 10 registry.  I then tried searching for what their example showed, but there seemed to be hundreds of "shellex" and I gave up trying to search for the correct one.

When right clicking  a batch file in "File Explorer"  I see "open, edit, print,,.."  Edit brings up notepad.  Unfortunately, I also have to awkwardly "confirm I want to run the program" even though I selected "edit" and not run BUT THAT IS ANOTHER PROBLEM.

I need to open the batch file in wordpad, not notepad for editing or viewing.  Seems that "batch file"  ports from Linux don't look good in notepad but are formatted just fine in wordpad.  I would like to avoid associating batch file with wordpad as I then lose notepad, and really want to add the "open with" or "edit with" option instead, or in addition.

Currently (on my system), XML file can be opened with Notepad, Wordpad, Visual Studio, etc.  which works out fine.  Just problem with batch file not having those options.

Thanks for looking!

    Hello Beemer,

If you like, the downloadable .reg file in the tutorial below can automatically do what Frederik posted above for you to add "Open with" to .bat files.

-> All you need is the appropriate command in the registry:
