How to completely remove Avast Antivirus and set Windows Defender as Main

Hi,

Windows Defender still thinks I have Avast installed but I already uninstalled this product. I also tried running their custom uninstaller from Avast website but the Windows Defender won't activate because of this.

Is anyone else having the same issue?

Thanks.

    Give this a try:

    Enable Windows Defender:

    Open Start, type: regedit

    Right click regedit

    Click Run as administrator

Navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SecurityHealthService

and modify the Start value from 4 to 2. Restart your computer to re-enable the Windows Defender Security Center Service.

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: services.msc

    Hit Enter
