Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration, but wifi works

Hello,

I know there are already a lot of posts about it, but nothing seems to work.

It tells me "Unidentified Network" and when I run the diagnose, it tells me "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration.

My drivers are good, I disabled and enabled it about 15 times, but nothing works.

Note that my router is on the bottom floor, I am on the second floor with my ethernet cable plugged in to a TP-Link TL-PA211. Everything worked fine for a few years, but then, a few months ago, I started having these problems. It would generally work after a few minutes, but it's now been 12 hours and still nothing is working. My wifi works fine, but as I am not at the same floor as the router it is really unstable...

Here's my ipconfing :

Thanks for the help !

It's looking like the router is not able to reach the PC via the powerline adapter to hand it an IP address. Let's try this: Start > Settings > Network & Internet - in the right pane, there is "Change adapter options" - this will open a window displaying your network adapters. Right click on Ethernet and click Properties. Another window will pop up. Select Internet Protocol Version 4, then click Properties. Another window will pop up. Here we can manually set an IP address. Click 'Use the following IP address' and enter the following:

    IP Address - 192.168.1.15

    Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0

    Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1

    DNS - 1.1.1.1

    DNS - 1.0.0.1

Check the Validate Settings Upon Exit box before clicking okay. Windows will then try out the settings before applying them. If this does not work, you should return to the Internet Protocol Version 4 properties and revert both the DNS and IP to Automatic.

I have faced this problem last week and I fixed it by turning off fast startup in my Windows 10 laptop.

Check this link https://www.geekdashboard.com/fix-ethernet-doesnt-have-a-valid-ip-configuration-error/ for more possible solutions.

It didn't do anything... tried to reconnect the TP-Link with the one plugged to the router, it seems to work but still no ethernet...

Have you tried to update the firmware on the TP-Link TL-PA211? It could be a bug in the firmware on the adapter causing your issue. I'd try that as a first step to diagnose.
