I am using Win 8.1 had no problems with microsoft store until 04/08/2018 :  Now when I try to access games or apps. ( Microsoft Solitatre Collection etc. ) or buy items while playing other games I can not access the store.  I get error message 0x80072ee2:  I uninstalled Microsoft Jigsaw & tried to reinstall from store but I can not sign in because of the same message,

I just paid for an addl yr on some of the games but now can't play because of not signing in.  I know if I am able to finally reinstall Jigsaw all the puzzles I already purchased over the years will be gone meaning I will have to pay for them twice plus all the points accumulated are lost.

All I want to to beable to sign in I to old for this crap .  I'm 68 & disabled which makes it worse.

;Any help will be appreciated.

There are several reports from users running Windows 8.1 about the Store not working.

You can try to Run Apps Troubleshooter

Download and run the Modern UI App troubleshooter and check.

Please use the following links as a reference :

If that does not work, try performing a repair upgrade:

    Download the Windows 8.1 ISO:

Download Windows 8.1 Disc Image (ISO File) - Microsoft

    Perform a repair upgrade:

Hi Pat. I'm Greg, an installation Specialist and 8-year Windows MVP, here to help you.

These steps are the same for Windows 8.1:

Try running the Windows Store apps Troubleshooter at Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

Try resetting the Store cache: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/reset-windows-sto...

If that fails go to Settings>Apps and highlight Microsoft Store, choose Advanced Settings, then Reset. After it resets, restart PC.

If that fails then Try running the Windows Store apps Troubleshooter at Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

Try resetting the Store cache: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/reset-windows-sto...

If that fails go to Settings>Apps and highlight Microsoft Store, choose Advanced Settings, then Reset. After it resets, restart PC.

If that fails then reinstall Store. Type CMD in Start Search, right click Command Prompt result to Run as Administrator, copy the following code and paste it into the box using the Edit tools from Box's top left dropdown menu, press Enter:

    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *WindowsStore*).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

If these all fail then go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

If nothing else works then do a Refresh. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, and is also the most stable method to advance to the latest version. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2293-refre...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
