Hi Chris. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

So did you try uninstalling it normally in Settings > Apps & Features?

If it's not there and still gives the error, then try deleting the C:\Program Files folder for the game if it remains. If necessary you can Take Ownership first:

    https://www.askvg.com/add-take-ownership-option...

    https://www.askvg.com/guide-how-to-take-ownersh...

If it says a file is in use, rigth click Task Bar to open task Manager, scroll the processes to see if you can find one related to the game to End Process.

If not you can enter the Repair Mode following https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc... and use the Command Prompt to access the folder and delete it following the same steps as for rescuing files when Windows won't start: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

If these were found by the Uninstall tool then it's safe to run it. But I'd set a System Restore point first: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

Disc version, or download from... where ?

This problem when reinstalling is also commonly due to having installed the game previously and then deleting the game rather than

properly uninstalling it via Programs and Features, Apps and Features, or an uninstaller that some games have in the games install folder.

If this is the problem (or if the install was corrupted and you have to delete the folder as suggested by Greg) in your case, deleting

any Registry keys the game has created should fix the problem as these are what makes Windows think the game is already installed.

The Registry keys should be in...

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\id

    • Delete the DOOM3 folder with all keys from within the id folder (export it first for backup as precaution).

Another possibility is if the game failed to install or stopped during install, there may be files in your Temp folder

that are responsible for the error.

Rebooting Windows may fix this, but if not you can also navigate to your User\AppData\Local folder.

The open the Temp folder and delete all files that Windows allows you to delete (files in use by a program generally

    are blocked from deleting) .

    • If you are using an old disc copy you will also want to install the 1.3 patch .

    http://www.patches-scrolls.com/doom3.php

    .

    download version from internet.

yeah unforunately when my computer got back from being official fix and rebuild, the files stopped working.

yeah i have actually deleted those ones too.

what would the files be under temp?

i have deleted the folders there as well, but are there files that are still in there in the temp folder?

i tried uninstalling way earlier this week when i got my computer back, i guess what happen was when i gotten a new motherboard, ram & etc, i guess files stopped working and then i couldn't uninstall it, so what i did was that i figured i would go into regedit and deleted many folders of doom 3 and hopefully remove it, but looks it that didn't worked out.

i had look into task manager too and it wasn't there.

repair mode will that still show the files?

so im not sure what to do at this point.
