When I open file explorer there are four tabs at the top of the page - File, Home, Share and View. How do I get it to open with the 'Home' tab open instead of the 'File' tab?

    Hi Tapndog1, Ah, sorry, I think now I understand . . .

Have a look at the image below, is this what you see when you open a folder in File Explorer?

If so, either double click the Home Tab or click the down arrow to the right of the Home Ribbon. That should cause the Home Ribbon to stay open when File Explorer starts up

Please try that and let me know, if this is the issue and if this resolves it for you

This image shows the Home tab opened, that is what mine does not do. I have to manually open the Home tab. Example: If I am in Documents and want to 'delete all', I have to click on the Home tab, choose 'select all', then click on the Home tab again to use the 'delete' function. The Home tab does not stay open.. How do I make it stay open?

Please check again, the File Tab is not a tab it is a menu button and it is the Home Tab that is selected:

Look at the image below, this is the default Ribbon layout in Explorer - are those the same items you see on your ribbon ??

I have a laptop with Windows 10 Pro. Every time I go to My Documents, Downloads, etc., the blue File tab is open. I want the Home tab to be opened when I go to these folders. How do I do that?

    Hi Tapndog1, this is a common mis-perception . . .

There is in fact no File Tab - that is a blue button and while it looks like it is selected, it is not - it is actually a bad design flaw!

Windows File Explorer will always open on the Home Ribbon (Tab) there is no setting in Windows to change that . . .
