Universal Mobile Keyboard not pairing

This is the second Microsoft Universal Mobile Keyboard. Neither is ablate pair with my iPad2.

I charged the unit overnight. I assume it is fully charged though I don't see any indicator to confirm this.

I open the keyboard, set it to iPad/iPhone, dock the iPad in the cradle.

I then presses the POWER/PAIRING button for 1 second to turn the keyboard on, per instructions.

I assume it is powered up, but there is no indicator light to confirm this.

I go to settings on the iPad, select Bluetooth, make sure it is on and watch it search for new devices.

Nothing.

I press the POWER/PAIRING button for 3 seconds to initiate pairing, per instructions.

Nothing.

I have repeated all of these steps several times, varying the order: Nothing.

I have followed the instructions carefully, several times andI am getting nowhere.

Do these things ever work with iPads?

Read great reviews, but that has not been my experience.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me.

As far as the operating system goes, the link you provided says the keyboard works with iOS 6, 7 & 8.

My iOS for my iPad says version 11.2.6 so is that it? The keyboard is only compatible with some pretty out of date operating systems?

    That seems weird, but possible.

BTW - I also tried pairing my iPhone, but no results there either.

Could be the same problem, I guess.

One question that still puzzles me is trying to determine whether or not the keyboard is charged or on.

I understand that there is a red light that comes on when the battery is low, but is that really the only indicator?

It seems crazy to be able to tell me when the battery is low, but have absolutely no way to tell the difference between when a battery is completely charged completely dead (so much so that it can't even light the red low battery light.

    Am I missing something?

Seems like there should be some sort of indicator to tell me if the battery is charged and something to tell leif the unit is turned on.

It seems I should just go ahead and return this keyboard, but please tell me if there are other options get it working. I REALLY need a keyboard for the iPad.

    Thanks for your help.

    Bob

    Hello Bob,

Possibly, the Microsoft Universal Mobile Keyboard may be out of battery power or not compatible with the software currently installed on your iPad 2. You can check the Universal Mobile Keyboard specification under the Operating System section to check which OS is compatible with it. If the keyboard is out of battery power, a battery status indicator should let you know when it's low on power located at the left side of the device.

Alternatively, you can also try pairing other device to verify if the keyboard is working.

We're here if you need further assistance.
