Windows 10 Creators Update.

This is not a question but a comment on the creators update. As ist appears this Update is causing a number of major and minor problems, about which everyone can read now.

I have one problem that my Logitech C920 camera cannot be detected using the Logitech Webcam SW. No idea why. If I want to open the MS Camera App, it says basically the same: "We can't find your camera." it spews out an error code: 0XA00F4244, whatever that means. The camera would also not work in Skype! Now comes the most stupid thing: when I uninstall the Logitech SW resp. disable it, the MS Camera App works fine (and also in Skype).

As far as the logitech drivers are concerned. I "rolled the drivers back", and yahoo! the camera SW works again, but with a bitter pill: it now runs on some legacy generic Windows drivers providing reduced functionality and support for the product. Ridiculous!!!

The other thing is this: watching a video on a website could suddenly turn the whole monitor blank except for an inch on the top. No way to operate the PC anymore. One must physically shut down the PC, and then start it again.

There are many more things that that do function after this "Update".

Does MS no longer check their releases, or are there so many dumb MS employees?? What does an "Update" like this help at all, when the bottom line does not work properly? Now MS is coming up with a "hotfix" on next Tuesday, and additionally with some dumb apology. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!!

Obviously, it appears that there is no fix to the described issue. However, I have good news. After I contacted Logitech and provided lots of information in the form of images incl. from Event Viewer, Logitech investigated and even escalated the issue. They did not come to a conclusion. They offered a free replacement of my five year old C920. I can only conclude from that two alternatives: either they could not determine what the issue is or they know the issue but it is too embarrassing to publish, and there is no solution. I personally believe that the issue lies within the SW since the HW is working fine once the driver is rolled back and works on some obscure Windows generic driver. Nothing wrong with the USB connection either.

I commend Logitech for their forthcoming way of support which MS very obviously lacks!

My clear answer is NO! Thye PC is just half a year old, has been running otherwise very well, and now a repair upgrade to what? I have Windows 10 Pro installed. I am not going to risk any further destruction or whatever. Clearly, I do not see any reason to do the repair.

    Sorry.

    Check your antivirus software

In your antivirus app, look for settings related to blocking access or permission to use your webcam. For help, visit your antivirus software company’s website.

Check for an outdated webcam driver

Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the search results.

Find your webcam under Imaging devices or Sound, video and game controllers.

Press and hold (or right-click) the name of your webcam, and then select Properties.

Select the Driver tab, select the Driver Details button, and look for a file name that includes stream.sys. If it’s there, your webcam was designed before Windows 7 and you'll have to replace it with a newer webcam.

If you don't find a file name that includes stream.sys, try rolling back your webcam driver.

    Roll back your webcam driver

In Device Manager, press and hold (or right-click) your webcam, and then select Properties.

Select the Driver tab, select Roll Back Driver, and then choose Yes. (Note that some drivers don’t provide a rollback option.)

After the rollback is complete, restart your PC, and then try opening the Camera app again.

If rolling back didn’t work or isn’t available, uninstall your webcam driver and scan for hardware changes.

Uninstall your webcam driver and scan for hardware changes

In Device Manager, press and hold (or right-click) your webcam, and then select Properties.

Select the Driver tab, select Uninstall > Delete the driver software for this device, and then select OK.

In Device Manager, on the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes. Wait for it to scan and reinstall updated drivers, restart your PC, and then try opening the Camera app again.

If your webcam still doesn’t work, try looking for help on the webcam manufacturer’s website.

Thank you for your reply, Andre.

I do not have a Twitter account, and I will not have one at all. Reason: SECURITY and PRIVACY. Sorry. That extends also to Facebook and others. I have only WhatsApp, but use it very sparingly.

Please explain to me how to create a bug report.

Since the occurrence of the problem with the Logitech C920, I already contacted Logitech, and they opened a case. I gave them a lot of details of my actions, and they said they are working on it.

I appreciate your  quick willingness to help, which could be useful to other users having the same issue.
