brother status monitor icon
i have windows 7. yesterday i noticed that a brother status monitor icon in green with a green check sign is showing as the bottom left of the screen. i cannot remove it. left single or double click does nothing, right single or double click brings up 'close window'. I do have a brother printer with is printing. how do I remove this icon?

@CmdrKeene 90,621 Reputation points Volunteer Moderator2018-04-05T12:19:27+00:00 the Outlook icon will always show their if the Outlook program is running. It's been that way for two decades, you just may have never noticed before.
As for the brother icon, you may be able to disable the icon without uninstalling it. Check your brother instruction manual to see if they allow that.
Having those icons there is not a cause for concern, and not an indication of anything that is wrong.

Thanks very much for your reply. would the actions you suggest uninstall just the icon or the printer? I only want to remove the icon on the bottom tool bar as I have read that it is a symptom of malware or something not right in my computer. the printer is working just fine.
I have now noticed that there is a Microsoft Office Outlook icon on the bottom right bar which wasn't there yesterday. I certainly haven't moved or changed anything, so it seems something in my computer is moving icons around.
is this a serious problem?
