REINSTALL ONEDRIVE

My OneDrive app stopped working, and I cannot see that it is even installed.  When I try to reinstall it, I get the following message:

"OneDrive couldn't be installed.  Please try again.  If you continue to have this problem, search the forums ...... for the error code 0x80070005"  I have tried installing several times with the same result.  I am running Windows 10 Home Version 1709, OS Build 16299.3.0 .  My System type is 64-bit with a x64-based processor.

How can I correct this and get OneDrive working again???

Try these steps out and let me know how it goes:

    1. Right-click Start button, choose Run
    2. Type appwiz.cpl and click OK
    3. Find "Microsoft OneDrive" in the list and uninstall it
    4. Restart your computer
    5. Go to the OneDrive Download Page here and click the "need to reinstall?" link on the page to get the new installer
    6. Let me know if the installer has any trouble this time

Bingo!!! Shawn "Cmdr" Keene, this is absolutely the solution I have been searching for for hours and days. If anyone with Windows 10 Home and maybe other versions follows these 5 steps, you will have success. Granted, after step 5 is done there are still some things to do on the computer to activate all the features of OneDrive. But, this is the only solution I know of.

I judge that the biggest roadblock for me was that I could not get a successful uninstall of OneDrive program from the Control Panel | Programs and Features. Because of that, a new download of OneDrive set up worked fine BUT there was always an error in installing a new OneDrive setup......something like, "you already have a new version of OneDrive installed". For some reason, the 1st two steps above and specifically using appwiz.cpl location to uninstall OneDrive vs. using the Programs and Features location of the OneDrive program listing......was the ticket! Within seconds, I had OneDrive uninstalled and was on the way to reinstalling the new OneDrive download.

    Thank you a thousand times!

This worked for me once about 3-4 weeks ago.  Again I had OneDrive "disappear".  I tried to go through the same steps, but now OneDrive will not uninstall from my machine regardless of how I try to uninstall.  I have used appwiz.cpl, and was advised by Microsoft support to use the following:

    1. Type in taskkill /f /im OneDrive.exe to terminate any OneDrive processes and hit Enter.
    2. Then type in either %SystemRoot%\System32\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall if you’re using 32-bit Windows 10 or %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall if you’re using 64-bit Windows 10 and hit Enter.

In all cases, OneDrive will not uninstall, and I cannot reinstall a downloaded version until I can get the old one uninstalled.  I am about to give up on OneDrive completely, it is a piece of crap!

Does the computer run fine in all other ways?  Or are there any other symptoms of issues?  Or modifications (example: has UAC been disabled or any other non-standard changes)?
