Can't get microphone working on any program after the newest update.

After the latest windows 10 update, my audio interface (scarlett 2i2) is no longer working with windows. It shows my mic activating normally, however it does not activate itself in windows. I can see the icons in the new and old sound settings tab, but can't get it working. Interestingly, I can use the listen to this device the button to hear the mic, but the green bars aren't working. I also can't get the mic working on ANY windows programs I need. (discord, teamspeak, etc.) I have reinstalled all possible drivers, Installed different mixers, tried all kinds of configs, but can't get the microphone input in to programs. Also, I can hear my mic in voicemeeter, but I can't in any way transfer the signal to programs. I used voicemeeter before with no problems aswell. I'm running out of ideas here. Have I missed something?

    Windows Key+I > Privacy > Microphone

    1. Set allow access to the Micrphone on this device
    2. Allow apps to access your microphone - Make it ON
    3. Choose which apps can access your Microphone - If needed make required to ON.

    If above doesn't work -

Please try these options one by one and check after each option.

    1. Run Hardware & Devices / Audio Troubleshooters

Type Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box > Click Troubleshoot >

    A. Click Hardware & Devices > Run the Troubleshooter

    B. Click Playing Audio > Run the Troubleshooter

    C. Recording Audio > Run the troubleshooter

    D. Speech > Run the troubleshooter

    1. Microphone is not disabled and is set as default

Type Sound in Windows Start Seach box > Click Sound > Under Recording tab, right click on an empty space and select, Show disconnected devices and Show disabled devices > Select Microphone and click on Properties and make sure that the microphone is enabled > You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.

    1. Set up microphone

Type microphone in Windows Start Search box > Click Set up a Microphone > Select required type of microphone (for internal mic, select Others) > Follow the onscreen directions to set it up

    1. Take actions related to Audio Driver

Windows Key+X > Device Manager > Sound, Video & game controllers > Right Click on the entry below > Properties > Driver Tab >

    A. Roll Back - If Roll back driver is enabled, roll it back

    B. Uninstall - Uninstall Device and restart to reinstall it automatically

    C. Update - Update Driver > Click Browse my computer for driver software > Click Let my pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > Choose the driver > Click Next to update

If this does not work, select Search automatically for the updated driver in place of Browse my computer for driver software > Restart your computer

    D. Download and reinstall the driver from computer manufacturer's website - If you face issue, let me know your computer make and model?

I had this exact problem - I could hear my mic when I tested in in Windows and it worked in Firefox, but not in any other application (Discord, Steam, Battle.net etc).

    I hope this helps:

Disable all enhancements under the Enhancements tab for your Speakers and / or Headphones (not the microphone, strangely):

Go to the Sound settings under Control Panel.

Under the Playback tab, click on the applicable devices and go to Properties

Go to the Enahncements tab and check the box Disable all enhancements

Though I don't think it had an effect, I also went to Microphone privacy settingsand ensured**:**

Microphone access for this device was on and

Allow apps to access your microphone was on (though I turned it off for most apps individually)
