Connecting Wireless Display to Samsung Smart TV- Problem

I recently purchased a 32 inch Samsung Smart TV. I tried to mirror an HP laptop to Smart TV but to no avail. I tried the connect wireless option with no success. However, the TV recognizes laptop's attempts to connect. The tv blinks for a while and the "loading' sign appears. But after that, the aerial TV channel broadcast resumes, meaning that screen mirroring just failed. It happens like this everytime. I have tried dozens of times but I have failed. What should I do? I need to mirror my laptop because that is one of the reasons I purchased a smart TV with a large screen. I also tried installing a Samsung Smart TV app for windows but the app requests a pin from the TV and the TV does not provide the pin. What should I do? Please help.

Thanks for prompt reply. I have performed everything you said.

First, the Windows version is 1709 (OS Build 16299.214).

Second, the speed test is 1.97Mbps.

Third, My laptop is an HP Notebook Serial Number CND53448M2. Product Number P4H35EA#ABV

Windows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit

Fourth, my TV is Samsung 32 inch LED TV: UA32J4303.

Fifth, I do not have a dongle, but I have a D-Link WiFi router which I use to connect to my laptop and TV. I guess this can work for mirroring.

Sixth, I have seen HDMI ports on my TV and laptop. But do not currently have a cable. Maybe I will consider getting one. But it would have been better if I can connect my laptop wirelessly to the TV. I hate cables, especially if things can happen wirelessly.

Regarding workarounds, I have done anything imaginable, including finding apps that support wireless TV-laptop connections. None have worked.

Lastly, the distance between my TV and laptop is barely 2-3 meters. Very close.

    Hi Kibet,

Windows 10 has a feature that allows wireless transmission of media content from a PC or any other compatible devices by casting it on a television. If your computer and smart television are compatible with each other, it will be easier to connect them since they are plug and play ready and can be connected directly.

To have a better grip on your concerns with multiple/extended displays, we’d like to know the following:

    • Which version or build of Windows device are you using? To know, press Windows + R to open the Run window. Type winver and press Enter. A new window will open showing the version and build number of your Windows device.
    • What is the speed of your Internet connection? You can test it here: www.speedtest.net.
    • What is the exact make and model of your computer?
    • What is the exact brand and model of your television?
    • Do you have a dongle that allows display casting/mirroring (for wireless connection)?
    • Do you have an HDMI cable/port?
    • What are the workarounds you have done so far?
    • What is the range between your TV and the computer?

In addition, we’d like to check if you already tried using the Project in the Action Center? You can do this by pressing Windows + P.

The Project allows casting of multimedia contents from a computer to a television.

Make sure that you set your casting settings to DuplicateorSecond screen only.

Otherwise, you will need to use an HDMI cable (wired connection) to connect your computer to a TV if they’re not compatible with broadcasting in wireless mode.

In addition, you can visit this link: Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters for more troubleshooting steps regarding wireless displays.

Get back to us once if you can provide us additional information.
