It seems like Windows updates are trying to make it harder to get to the playback and recording devices as both those options have been remove from the right click menu when you right click the sound icon on the task bar (now you have to right click it, click sounds, then click playback or recording, and at this point I just want to make a desktop shortcut to it, so is there any way to do this?

    Hi Lenexitia ,

Right click your Desktop, choose New - Shortcut

In the location box, paste this:

    control.exe mmsys.cpl

Click Next and give the shortcut a meaningful Name

    Click Finish

    That's It!

There is currently no such option.

But, you can right click the Sound icon in the Taskbar and click Sound and it will open the Playback Sound dialog. That's pretty quick.
